SAN JOSE (February 18th 2011) – Fresh from announcing the North American theatrical distribution of UK filmmakers Howard and Jonathan Ford’s zombie horror movie “THE DEAD” for later this year, San Jose based acquisition and distribution company Global Cinema Distribution (www.globalcinemadistribution.com), has teamed up with CINEQUEST Film Festival for a special San Jose ‘one off’ screening.
Shot on never before committed to celluloid locations across Burkina Faso and Ghana, West Africa, “THE DEAD” is unlike anything horror audiences have experienced before. Centered around an American mercenary, the sole survivor of a plane crash, who has to run the gauntlet across Africa, battling against the living dead. The film stars Rob Freeman (“Saving Private Ryan”), and African up and coming star Prince David Osei, who is making his US theatrical debut through GCD.
CINEQUEST Film Festival, which is held March 1st – 13th in the heart of San Jose, and Global Cinema Distribution are holding the screenings on March 4th and 10th at 7pm along with a Q&A session with British filmmaker and Director of “THE DEAD” Howard J Ford.
“We are excited to be offering our local community the opportunity to see this incredibly unique movie ahead of our releasing theatrically across America in August.” Enthused Dan Nelson of GCD. “We are planning a spooktacular event for zombie and horror fans with a few hidden surprises on the night!!

The company has tied in local retailer, Hijinx Comics as the designated ticket pick up point.
Global Cinema Distribution who successfully distributed “LA MISSION” starring Benjamin Bratt last year, is also set to distribute and executive produce, through its sister company Golden Leaf Pictures (GLP), a catalogue of movies in 2011 including concert film “THE ROAD BACK TO WOODSTOCK,” which is currently in post-production featuring all original bands that played Woodstock at the original site.
